As Ursula had a week of vacation ahead we decided to go further up the coast and see some new things…
Starting from a still sunny Oban with clear calm waters
I discovered this lovely poppy along the road
As I was expected to get Ursula from Iona I had to take the ferry to Mull first leaving me ample time in Oban harbour to admire the working ships
very sturdy to sustain the tear and wear in the Northern Atlantic
with dangerous looking tools to scrape the sea-bed
in more detail now…
As the weather was about to change the air was full of moisture already…
The brightly coloured tower in the grey mist
Then, after collecting Ursula we went further up the coast towards Ullapool and after a rainy and windy night (where we saw an otter!) we drove back down to Gairloch. On the way is the stunning Corrieshalloch Gorge where you have amazing (but scary) views from the suspension bridge down
The upper waterfall is as impressive… The interesting thing about the gorge is that it was not created by the river (too small), but sub-glacial melt-water which eroded the rock
the rock as such very often is limestone (soft…) and create beautiful patterns with the lichen and algae
Further down the craggy coastline
With amazing views over the bay
an invitation to take a swim
Here were quite many seals and some dolphins playing around
keeping watch…
and another view over the bay
and an inland lake
more detail, close-up
The weather was really getting unsettled and the clouds got very amazing
Let’s enjoy the last rays of sun with a nice glass…
Gorgeous photos, made my day! Does look cold though…
Thanks 🙂 It is a bit nippy from time to time…
