After our time in Myvatn we took the road towards Egilstadir and then there decided to head further up the north as the south looked rather bleak (many tourists and quite bad weather). In the end we opted to go to Borgarfjörður which is considered a hiker’s paradise due to the many marked tracks (quite seldom in Iceland) and the beautiful landscape.
On the way there you cross the desert like interior parts with “the queen” visible in the background
Here once more with her hair a bit loose
In a small cottage on the road (only a restaurant and fuel station) last time there used to be a partially disabled fox – now it seems the disability didn’t hinder it in reproduction
A nice juvenile arctic fox…
Approaching the destination the landscape gets rugged again
With beautiful views over the marshland
Stiff peaks
and a quite charismatic (…asthmatic…) costal road
“Those who love Christ have a blessing…” (nice to see alongside such a road )
We arrived
Neighbours
30 m² (living room, kitchen, sleeping room) – renovated in 1969 and still used for 5 months per year…
That is a heavy duty ATV!
Obvious…
Good to have a camper!
Spring time – having a cigar on the open! The first time we used our camping chairs
On our hike last evening we got adopted by a local Icelandic guide… A juvenile pup who was so happy to have someone to play with
Trying to kiss you everywhere
He was so cute and quite clever!
That’s goooooood….
My tripod caused his attention
Biting, gnawing, grabbing
Better this than my tripod leg
Evening views over the bay
