In Borgarfjörður Eystri there is a protected small half-island which is home to thousands of puffins (among other birds) and always a wonderful place to be if you are there before they take off…
On the way along the main road (as we were walking to not have to take down the camper once more) you can see lovely spring / early summer water flowers and lush vegetation (well, less than 1/2 m tall at least…) around you
Then – around 21:30 – we where there at the nesting hills and it was teeming with puffins..
Such a splendid view
They truely are small clowns…
Every whole is a nesting site
A thinker…
Very interested in what we were doing next
Friend or foe?
Posing…
They have special technique to store the fish in the beak
The maximum ever recorded was 66 fish (here it was sand-eels)
Lovely fellow
very water-proof as well
