The next segment of our journey was a trip up North-West to the Westfjords – the oldest part of Iceland. As the tectonic plate (at least the American one…) is moving westwards, the Westfjords are being dragged away from the hotspot where new magma is building up.
The coastline looks quite different – especially the mountains and fjords are more rubble and dragged down by glaciers

That does not deter the seals

And they enjoy life considerably

A blue seal… 🙂

Nice and safe spot to sunbath…

As always there is water in Iceland and on this particual stretch of road it came down very nicely

creating mossy cascades

and small gurgling pools

very stunning in the sunlight as well

in different angles… When the snu changes the tiniest bit the whole scene becomes very different

Moss everywhere
