On our trip around Iceland we hit (and tried to get out of the „Golden Circle“ area as soon as possible due to the extreme amount of visitors) Reykjanes. This peninsula is just below Reykjavik and another very active geothermal area (well, where is that not the case in Iceland…)
So we decided to have a small hike around the pools and bubbling fields…

Over the edge you can see another active field

The colors are just stunning

Very intense and lush

looks toxic

not really inviting to hike there…

Again the mix of colors red, yellow, blue, green – so vibrant

almost surreal

wide views over the surroundings
That is the problem with many volcanic eruptions – the dust which is thrown out mixes wonderfully with water and produces a substance which sticks to anything – and doesn’t get away either…

If that thing flows around something it is pretty much the same effect like concrete – just it never gets hard…

Wonderful forms

Finally, after that we headed to the horn of the peninsula where a wonderful campsite is located

below the lighthouse 🙂

Barbeque with cigar…

And what a lovely piece of lamb it used to be (past tense…)

Sunset

At midnight
