As we had a bit of time and a wonderful sunny day we too the long walk around the northern end of Iona which is the roughest and loneliest part of the island. The feeling was wonderful – no people, just sun, wind and nature.
The stone is carved by the never ending winds and rain
with all kind of small vegetation clinging to it
Often dead, often quite alive
the upper layer is always very small and thin – so not too many domestic animals
the little mountaineer before her victory
View from the north end
and once more the mountain Ursi conquered
Granite in every direction
with views towards Iceland
Vegetation, vegetation…
rocks, rocks…
guess what – coastline, coastline
Very beautiful and no ( 0 ) people around
waves crashing into the shoreline
That was a bigger one
relicts of a meal
sentimental views
Magnificent forms
and final breaks before heading back
On the way we discovered something the wind together with the rain had formed
beautiful light and mood
mussels growing in the cracks
and on the rocks
more sand blown around
finally on the way back to Ursi’s accommodation we come along the graveyard which is very beautiful
I love this headstone
Do you have anything against people? 😉
No, I like them very much… In the pub, the concert, the opera – just not in a secluded spot where I want to just enjoy nature 😉
